Ideal Standard

Although we’re all looking forward to waving 2020 goodbye, this year did allow many of us to reconnect with our homes. Here are some of our favourite styles to look out for next year, and some simple tips on how you can make sure your bathroom stays on-trend.

According to Money.co.uk, UK homeowners have spent a staggering £55 billion on home improvements since March, resulting in quite a few dodgy DIY paint jobs!  As we eagerly look towards 2021, there are some interesting new trends to look forward to, from modern twists on traditional cottage styles, to daring new colour palettes.  2021 looks like an exciting year for interior design, particularly within the bathroom.  Here are some of our favourite styles to look out for next year, and some simple tips on how you can make sure your bathroom stays on-trend.

The ‘Modern Country’ Look

Nicknamed ‘cottagecore’, this trenddraws inspiration from the traditional and picturesque English cottage.  Cottagecore is arguably one of the most quintessentially British designs, andits predicted rise in popularity is mostly thanks to the uptake in periodproperty renovations.

In order to achieve full cottagecorestyle, it’s vital to draw from trusted traditional looks of the past, and bringthem up to date with a modern twist. Trademark looks of this trend includetreated wooden panelling, cosy furnishings and antique pieces – a great way tosustainably update your interiors.

You can easily bring the cottagecorestyle to your bathroom, by installing key pieces from our ConceptAir range.  These slick, minimalistic designs allow eccentric,cottagecore-style accessories to shine, whilst giving a clean and timelesssense of design to a room.  To really finish the look, consider pairing the basinwith modern gold taps from our upcoming Ipalysscollection, one of our elegant and slick mirrors(some come with handy anti-steam technology!) and traditional black and whitetiling.

Bring On The Bold

After a very drab 2020, it’s time to bidfarewell to neutral colour palettes, and say hello to the bold and impactful.  Dark blues and greens are at the forefront of the 2021 colour palette, butnever fear, this doesn’t mean that you have to whip out the paint brush andgive yourself a dark blue feature wall.  These colours can be incorporated inother ways, from subtle additions of new accessories, to boldly coloured furniture.

But how can these colours be broughtinto the bathroom?  Next Spring will see the launch of our Atelier Collections, including the new finishes of our Ipalyssbasin range, which combines ultra-thin ceramics with beautifulcolours.  These slicks designs bring vintage inspired colours into the twentyfirst century and offer incredibly bold pieces that are guaranteed to impress.

Mermaid Tiles

One of the key trends of 2021, and setto make its way into everyone’s bathrooms next year are the art-deco inspiredmermaid tiles.  They are the perfect way to bring some character into yourbathroom, and mermaid tiles get their name from their curved edges which mimicthe scales on a mermaid’s tail.  Although they’re expected to be popular inpastel colours, you really can customise this look to any colour scheme thatworks in your bathroom.  As these are art-deco inspired, be sure to accessorisewith similar 1920s-style pieces.

To compliment the curved edges ofmermaid tiles, the ConceptAir range again works wonderfully with these feature pieces, withround-edge basins and WCs, the clean lines and sleek finishes really amplifyingthe patterns of the tiles.

With plenty ofexciting trends to come in the new year, it’s safe to say that now’s theperfect time to start considering the latest designs for your bathroom.  Tobrowse our full collection of bathroom ranges, have a look through all of ourcollections here.
